The Blue Hill Peninsula Chamber of Commerce has announced a redesigned logo and will start using it in February.

The logo, designed by board of directors member Jean Lamontanaro, features a fishing boat in the water with the silhouette of a mountain beyond. The redesign was a collaborative process, involving input from all of the board members.

The chamber board decided to update the logo to better encompass the diverse members and communities it serves and to give the chamber a more contemporary, eye-catching look, according to a press release. The focus was on creating something that would represent all of the peninsula towns.

“The mountain is inspired by Blue Hill Mountain, an important local landmark, while the fishing boat reminds us of the importance of our working waterfronts. All together the logo is meant to express the importance of our local lands and waters that provide valuable commercial and recreational opportunities throughout our area,” said Lamontanaro.

The mission of the Blue Hill Peninsula Chamber of Commerce is to promote and protect the vitality of the business and nonprofit community through collaborative efforts of the members while sustaining the character of the peninsula. The chamber directly serves the towns of Blue Hill, Brooklin, Brooksville, Castine, Deer Isle, Penobscot, Sedgwick, Stonington and Surry.
