De-stress and build strength and balance with tai chi

Healthy Acadia currently offers classes in six additional communities across Downeast Maine, from Machias to Bucksport. This ancient Chinese practice incorporates slow, gentle and controlled movement to improve relaxation, flexibility, concentration, and muscle strength.

Healthy Acadia is offering several eight-week “Tai Chi for Health” courses across Hancock and Washington counties this spring. While classes are free, a $5 per-class donation is suggested. Course locations and times are as follows:

Brooksville: Thursdays, 9 to 10 a.m., March 14 - May 2, Brooksville Public Library (1 Townhouse Road).

Brooksville: Intermediate Tai Chi, Thursdays, 10 to 11 a.m., March 14 – May 2, Brooksville Public Library (1 Townhouse Road).

Deer Isle: Seated Tai Chi, Wednesdays, 10:15 to 10:45 a.m., March 13 - May 1, Deer Isle Nursing Home (587 N. Deer Isle Road).

Deer Isle: Wednesdays, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., March 13 - May 1, Deer Isle Nursing Home (587 N. Deer Isle Road).

New participants are always welcomed at ongoing “Tai Chi for Health” courses at the following locations and times:

Blue Hill: Tuesdays, 2 to 3 p.m., February 19 – April 9, Parker Ridge Retirement Community (63 Parker Ridge Lane).
