Blue Hill Concert Association to launch 41st season
A concert featuring Axiom Brass will take place on Sunday, January 20, at 3 p.m. in the First Congregational Church of Blue Hill.
Axiom Brass is a quintet that has traveled across the U.S. and around the world bringing their energetic style and creative interpretations to audiences. The members are Dorival Puccini and Michael Haws, trumpets; Matthew Bronstein, horn; Corey Sansolo, trombone; and Kevin Harrison, tuba.
They will be performing works from J.S. Bach’s Art of the Fugue; Anthony Halborne’s Elizabethan Dance Suite; Axel Jorgensen, Quintet for Brass; and Astor Piazzolla, Suite del Angel.
This dynamic quintet continues to expand the boundares of brass performance. Praised for their “high level of musicality and technical ability” and for their “clean, clear and precise sound,” the Axiom Brass has quickly established itself as “one of the major music groups in brass chamber music,” according to a news release.
Axiom Brass will be playing for students on Monday, January 21, at 10 a.m. in an educational outreach program sponsored by BHCA in the Performance Center at the Bagaduce Music Lending Library. For more information, contact BHCA through its website.
The outstanding acoustics of the Blue Hill Congregational Church is a wonderful setting for this concert. Tickets are available at the door or online at bluehillconcertassociation.org. Children and students are always admitted free. The Blue Hill Concert Association has made available two complimentary tickets for each concert at all the local libraries.
