Young Composers Competition approaches entry deadline

The Bagaduce Music Lending Library is calling all Maine students high school age and younger who love to write original music to enter the Young Composers Competition, where contestants can win prize money for their creative efforts: $200 for first place, $125 for second place, and $75 for third place. Three winners will be chosen in age group 13 and younger, and three winners in age group 14 and older. The deadline for sending an original music composition to the Bagaduce Music Lending Library, 49 South Street, Blue Hill, is February 8. New this year: Mark Tipton, a judge and composer, will offer a Composition Workshop for older students at the Festival on Saturday, April 20, at 1 p.m. Details about the competition, guidelines, and entry forms are available on the Bagaduce Music website, For more information, call 374-5454.
