CSD 13 board member Liz Perez has announced that she will run for the board again as a write-in candidate.
Nomination papers closed in both Deer Isle and Stonington a few weeks ago, and no one returned papers for the open three-year seat, which Perez currently holds.
Perez made the announcement on social media February 20, and said that weeks of consideration prompted her to make the decision.
“Over the last few weeks I have realized that I’m not ready for my time to end just yet,” she wrote in the post. “Our current board works very well together, we have a great group of dedicated individuals that each bring their own thing to the table. I’d like to keep this momentum going, but to do so I will need the help of the public.”
She added that she is proud of the work she and the members of the board have done in the last three years, and while there have been ups and downs, it has been a “great experience.”
Perez asked the voters in the island communities to write in her name during elections on March 9, prior to the town meetings in Deer Isle and Stonington.
