Road rage incident sends Sedgwick family to hospital
by Anne Berleant
Maine State Police responded to Graytown Road in Sedgwick on Sunday, July 29, after a road rage incident led to a physical confrontation and sent a family of four to the hospital, according to press releases issued by Lt. Roderick Charette.
Richard Bubar, 43, of Deer Isle was arrested Tuesday, July 31, based on witness information on his vehicle and partial license plate. He was charged with aggravated assault and transported to Hancock County Jail.
“The case will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for prosecution,” Charette said.
Troopers Owen Reed and Hunter Belanger had responded to the call early Sunday evening, after Bubar had already driven from the scene. The delay in identifying Bubar’s pickup truck arose from the fact that it had been newly registered but the information not yet entered into the Department of Motor Vehicles system, Charette said. The Deer Isle town office assisted in identifying the vehicle, with DMV Detective David Silk assisting in the initial records investigation.
The victims, a couple and their two children, were treated for minor injuries and released from Blue Hill Memorial Hospital July 29.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has further information regarding the crime may call the Maine State Police at 207-974-9208.
