Annual Tree Lighting planned in Blue Hill

Welcome, Santa!

The Blue Hill Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and Blue Hill Heritage Trust recently announced details of the Annual Tree Lighting to be held on December 7.

The festivities will begin at 3:30 p.m. with an open house at the Blue Hill Historical Society; the Blue Hill Public Library will host ornament making at 4, and the First Congregational Church of Blue Hill will be showing the cartoon movie The Snowman at 4:30.

Other family events will be held in the Blue Hill Town Hall beginning at 4:30, including wreath and ornament making, face painting, cookie decorating, hot cider, hot cocoa, hot soup, popcorn, music, and a visit from Santa at 6 to help light the tree on the town hall lawn.

Shops in town will be open for holiday shopping. Luminaries will decorate the way for business and organizations that are open for the community to visit. Other events are planned throughout the Peninsula over the weekend. For a complete list of events and happenings, email Lori at

The Blue Hill Peninsula Chamber of Commerce is also sponsoring a door decorating contest for chamber members around the peninsula. Any organization or business interested in participating shoould contact Lori at Judging will take place beginning at noon on December 7, and the winners will be announced at the Annual Tree Lighting event.
