Stonington Farmers Market opens season May 23
The Stonington Farmers Market will officially start the season on Friday, May 23, from 10 a.m. to noon. The market is located in the parking lot of the Island Community Center in Stonington. Each year the Stonington Farmers Market vendors set aside funds from annual dues for a scholarship given to local students with a focus on education in the agricultural arts, according to a news release.
Sixty registered vendors will be selling a selection of food and specialty products from blueberries to blue hand-spun wool. Visitors to the market will find artisanal cheeses, Asian and Mexican prepared food, a wide array of fresh bakery goods, locally raised meats and smoked meat products, flowers, handmade soaps, fine artists and craftspeople, local fruits in season, and more.
