Jackson called to South Penobscot Baptist Church

The South Penobscot Baptist Church has announced the Rev. Ron Jackson as its new pastor, according to a news release from the church. Jackson has served the last four years at the Trenton Baptist Church. He is a native of Maine having been born in Skowhegan. His wife, Debbie, born in Portland, is employed at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital.

Jackson is a certified teacher and has taught at Steuben, Kids Peace in Ellsworth, and Orland, and he has served as an ed. tech., most recently at George Stevens Academy. He has been a substitute teacher for the past two years at the Penobscot Community School where his daughter, Kelly Hasselbrack, has been teaching for the past four years. Their other biological daughter, Amy, is employed at Hair Essentials in Ellsworth. The Jacksons reside in Ellsworth and have had eight other children share their home over the years through fostering and adoption.

Jackson has previously pastored in Houlton, Union, Strong, and Pittsfield. Prior to that he was a youth and children’s pastor in Maryland where the church had a daycare of more than 90 children. Jackson has been a youth speaker at Baptist Youth Camp in Charlotte for the past two summers.

Church services are 9:30 a.m. for Sunday School, 11 a.m. for worship services, and 6:30 p.m. for Wednesday night Bible Study.
