Castine Democrats choose leaders

Castine’s Democrats held their caucus earlier this month, according to a news release from the committee. Chosen for two-year committee terms were Lynn Parsons, chairman; Gunilla Kettis, vice chairman; Ann Jones, secretary and Hank DeRaat, treasurer. Pär Kettis was elected as delegate to the State Convention in May, as well as Parsons and Jones. Pär Kettis has also served as chairman of the convention’s Platform Committee for many years. Joyce Engelhardt and Richard Read, along with Hank DeRaat, were elected alternates.

State Representative Ralph Chapman attended and spoke briefly about a number of issues, including the proposed expansion of Medicaid, leases on oystering in the Bagaduce River, and his work regarding the proposed mining on Bald Mountain in Aroostook County.
