Storytelling festival planned in Castine

Celebrate storytelling in all its forms at the second annual Storytelling by the Sea festival from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, August 8, and Saturday, August 9, at the Wilson Museum, 120 Perkins Street in Castine. This family-friendly event will feature 26 performances and workshops, including presentations by storyteller and mime Antonio Rocha, comedian and clown Randy Judkins, physical comedian Kenny Raskin, Japanese Kamishibai storytellers Donna Tamaki and Margaret Eisenstadt, minister and actor Rick Messana, and a variety of local tellers with Downeast flavor, according to a news release. Saturday evening includes a Pub Crawl, featuring three hours of storytelling, comedy, music, drinks, and food at some of Castine’s favorite watering holes.

The festival is co-sponsored by Wilson Museum, Witherle Memorial Library, Friends of Witherle Memorial Library, Maine Maritime Academy, MarKels Bakehouse, The Manor Inn, The Pentagoet Inn, Dennett’s Wharf Restaurant, Guildive Cruises, and the Town of Castine.
