As of January 20, the Board of Trustees of Nichols Day Camps has announced the hiring of Nan Fowler as its new executive director.
“We had three fantastic and qualified applicants,” said Board of Trustees President Libbey Gulliver in a January 21 phone call, “and we chose Nan because of all of her experience.”
According to information provided by Nichols Day Camps and from a bio written by Fowler on the NDC website, Fowler has extensive experience in a camp setting—both as a camper and administrator. She has worked at camps in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. She also worked one summer at Hiram Blake Camp on Cape Rosier.
Most recently, Fowler has been at the University of Georgia where she is finishing a PhD in Education and Intentional Learning Communities.
Fowler will travel to Maine in early February to begin getting ready for next summer’s camp season, said Gulliver, beginning with the task of going through personnel files and contacting last year’s staff to return.
A meet-and-greet has been set up at the Blue Hill Public Library on February 8 to introduce Fowler to the community. It will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. and refreshments will be served.
