Deer Isle’s “Men Who Cook” to hold 10th annual event
Seamark Community Arts will hold its 10th annual “Men Who Cook” fundraising dinner on Saturday, March 15 (snow date March 16), from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the gymnasium of the Deer Isle-Stonington High School.
Men of all ages will showcase their creations working individually or in teams. Cooks receive a free pass as well as a commemorative “Men Who Cook” tote bag. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door the night of the event.
Local band Isle of Jazz will accompany the festivities with live music, and the Deer Isle-Stonington High School band will make a special appearance.
Diners will vote for their favorite dish during the event in a “People’s Choice Awards” format. Prizes will be awarded for best overall dish, best dessert, and best presentation. Seamark will also hold a raffle during the dinner that will feature prizes from local businesses.
Proceeds will go toward Seamark’s many scholarship programs. These include two annual Arts in Education grants for teachers, awarded for professional development or for a special project that incorporates the arts into classroom learning.
Individuals or organizations that would like to help sponsor the event, donate a prize, or register to cook should contact Michele Dur at 348-9339, or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
