Matthew Foster, a Republican from Ellsworth, recently announced his candidacy for district attorney for Washington and Hancock counties.
Foster grew up in Ellsworth and graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1987. He has practiced in Ellsworth as a criminal defense attorney for nearly 11 years.
“Over the years, I have made note of many things that I feel might be done more effectively or efficiently at the Office of the District Attorney, and I truly hope to be able to have the chance to bring some vitally needed improvements to that office,” he said in a press release.
He previously held elected office as an Ellsworth City Counselor from 2006 to 2009 and ran for District Attorney in 2010.
