Open seats lack candidates; incumbents face uncontested races

by Anne Berleant

Stanley Shorey’s bid for re-election to the board of selectmen will be uncontested, barring any last-minute write-in candidates. The same holds true for incumbent Anne Hayes-Grillo, who seeks a third term on the school board. School board member Jennifer Pert is not seeking re-election, leaving one candidate for two open seats.

Incumbent Mary Ellen Gross filed papers for the open two-year term as town clerk with no other declared candidates.

Two open Finance Committee seats, which run for three years, have no declared candidates.

Town Clerk Mary Ellen Gross said she has heard “no rumblings” yet regarding possible write-in candidates.

Voting takes place at the Penobscot Community School on Monday, March 3, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Municipal and school warrant articles will be voted on Tuesday, March 4, beginning at 7 p.m. at the school gym.
