Main Street plan focus of February 18 meeting

by Anne Berleant

Selectmen will meet with Paul Brody of WBRC Architects/Engineers, residential designer Ted Lameyer and representatives of Olver Associates on Tuesday, February 18, to review a plan for Main Street submitted by the design team on January 29.

A 3 p.m. work session at the site in question—Main Street from Battle Avenue to Sea Street—will be followed by a presentation of the plan and question-and-answer period at the regular selectmen’s meeting at 4 p.m., or directly after the work session.

“We need to know exactly what they’re talking about before we make any decision,” Selectman Peter Vogell said when the selectmen met in early February.

A final proposal will be presented at town meeting on May 10 where citizens will vote on funding the redesign. However, selectmen have said that the public will have more chances to weigh in before that time.

The current plan may be viewed at and at the town office.
