Local church expands support of social justice programs
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Castine is taking the first steps toward expanding its support of social justice programs in Maine, according to a news release. Beginning immediately, UUCC invites applications for its Pulliam Grants, made in memory of the late Deborah Pulliam, a benefactor of UUCC and several other social justice endeavors throughout the state. For 2014, grants can range from $1,000 to $5,000 each.
“We are pleased to be able to take this step,” said the congregation’s president, Del Davis. “Those of us who knew Deborah Pulliam are inspired by her commitment to social justice and humanitarian causes. This is our opportunity to perpetuate her memory in a meaningful way.”
Information about the 2014 Pulliam Grants and the application process may be found on the UUCC website, uucastine.org.
