BikeMaine visit spurs activity
BikeMaine, a 400-mile, 250-person bicycle expedition, stops in Castine on its inaugural tour Tuesday, September 10. Various activities are planned for the participants to showcase the diversity and beauty of the community and many are open to the public, according to a news release from Castine’s Community & Economic Development office.
John Sowles of the Nature Conservancy will present a lecture on the Gulf of Maine, including topics such as restoring ground fish stocks and near-shore habitats, stream connectivity, and sustainable fishing practices, at Emerson Hall at 4:30 p.m.
Danny and the Bluetones perform at the Town Dock from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
Other events include Afternoon Tea at the Pentagoet Inn, Happy Hour at the Castine Inn, Kayak Tours, and an Historic Walking Tour presented by Castine Historical Society. Check the “Events” page of the town website at castine.me.us for additional details.
