Pecha Kucha seeks participants
Do you Pecha Kucha? Want to try it?
Opera House Arts at the Stonington Opera House is seeking participants for its third evening of this popular format for idea exchange on Wednesday, October 23, at 7 p.m. The event includes free snacks, as well as beer, wine, and other beverages for purchase, Opera House Arts said in a news release.
Pecha Kucha (p-cha ka-cha) is a fast-paced, friendly social evening at which a small group of our area’s many innovators—including entrepreneurs, farmers, designers, artists, fishermen, architects, photographers, musicians, and other great idea people—each present their work in 20 slides, for 20 seconds each. Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of “chit chat,” the fun and spark of a Pecha Kucha is that it rests on a presentation format that is concise, rapid, and invigorating, inspiring “chit chat” among all attending and firing up new ideas and excitement. Pecha Kucha Night was devised in Tokyo in February 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network, and show their work.
Presenters from throughout Hancock County are welcome and encouraged. To be a presenter, send an email of your intent to participate, with a brief description of your subject, to Opera House Arts’ General Manager Jennifer Morrow at firstname.lastname@example.org by October 2. Include complete contact information and website if applicable. Once selected, participants are required to submit a CD or DVD containing 20 digital images at a maximum size of 800x600 no later than October 11. For more information, call 367-2788 or go to operahousearts.org.
