Blue Hill Pops tickets on sale

The Bagaduce Music Lending Library announced that tickets are on sale for the 23rd annual Blue Hill Pops Concert. The annual festival of “Sounds Around Blue Hill” will be held on Wednesday, July 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the George Stevens Academy gymnasium on Union Street in Blue Hill. Corporate sponsors for the 2013 Blue Hill Pops are Bar Harbor Bank, Cape Air, PenAir and Stanley Subaru, according to a news release.

This year’s Blue Hill Pops will feature folksinger Gordon Bok. Deemed by Time magazine as the “poet laureate of those who go down to the sea in ships,” Gordon Bok grew up in Camden, where he began singing and playing guitar at an early age. He has recorded over 30 albums and has performed throughout the U.S. and around the world.

The Atlantic Clarion Steel Band will perform outside as concert-goers enter. The New Trad Trio will entertain the audience from the stage before the concert begins with traditional jazz of the ‘30s and ‘40s. Other 2013 Blue Hill Pops performers include the Scott Cleveland Trio playing straight-ahead jazz, with Scott Cleveland on piano, John Gallagher on bass and Bill Friederich on drums, and the Bagaduce Pops Singers, under the direction of Bronwyn Kortge, performing a medley from The Lion King. Table seats, reserved chairs and bleacher seats are available in a range of prices. For tickets, call 374-5454, or stop by the Bagaduce Music Lending Library on Greene’s Hill in Blue Hill.
