Island Nursing Home announces new medical director
Dr. Lisa Lesko joined the Island Nursing Home in Deer Isle as Medical Director on February 20, according to a news release.
Lesko is a specialist in family medicine in the Blue Hill Family Medicine practice, a department of Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. She will continue seeing patients in Blue Hill while serving as the Medical Director at Island Nursing Home.
According to the news release, Lesko has a long-standing interest in providing care to older people and helping to provide a quality of life that meets their medical as well as human needs. She is dedicated to providing holistic care that is respectful and sensitive, and she deeply understands the realities the residents are facing.
She received her MD from the State University of NY (SUNY)/Health Science Center at Stony Brook in 1993, where she also completed a three-year Residency in Family Medicine and was Chief Resident in her final year. She joined the practice at Blue Hill Family Medicine in August of 1996.
Dr. Lesko succeeds Dr. Susan Ostertag who has been the Medical Director at Island Nursing Home since 2007. Island Nursing Home has 70 residents and serves the Blue Hill peninsula and Deer Isle. It is the largest employer on Deer Isle.
