DISHS winter sports awards handed out

The winter sports awards have been handed out. Cheerleading coach Kim Larsen gave all the cheerleaders silver megaphone pendants with “2013 State Champions” engraved on them to commemorate their incredible season.

Girls varsity basketball coach Darren Eaton handed out the following awards: Chelsea Brown got Leading Scorer, Top Rebounder, Free Throw Award, and Defensive Award; Shiann Closson got Free Throw Award; Julie Hutchins got Defensive Award; Morgan Shepard got Most Improved; Allyson Eaton got Rookie of the Year and Coaches Award “Sixth Man Award;” Holli Boyce got Coaches Award “Most 3 Pointers;” and Logan Eaton got Coaches Award “Hustle.”

Chelsea Brown also received the Harry Scott Sportsmanship Award and was selected to participate in the Class C/D McDonald’s All Star game.

Boys varsity basketball coach Glenn Billings handed out the following awards: Sam Grindle got the 3 Point Goal Award; Connor Morey got Leadership Award and Foul Shooting award; Nathan Davis got Most Improved Player; Stuart Bray got Most Improved Player and Sixth Man Award; Hayden Ciomei got Rebounding Award; Nick Eaton got Coaches Award; and Krisford Melanio got Coaches Award. Assistant Coach Will Morey was given the Mariner Spirit award 2013.

Sam Grindle also received the Donald H Bartlett Sportsmanship award and was also selected to participate in the Class C/D McDonald’s All Star game.
