Sedgwick family seeks assistance for medical expenses
Dalton Hamilton was recently diagnosed with a rare spinal disease and his family is appealing to the community for assistance.
Third-grader Dalton Hamilton has been diagnosed with a rare spinal cord disease, syringomyelia or syrinx. There is no cure for this condition, but there are treatment options. Without treatment, there will be irreversible damage to the boy’s nervous system, most likely causing paralysis, according to a news release from the family. Currently the family is under MaineCare insurance, but there are many costs that are not covered by MaineCare. The family needs financial aid to help with the purchase of a back brace, travel expenses, and other out-of-pocket costs not covered. Donations made out to the Dalton Hamilton Donation Fund should be sent to Camden National Bank, 9 Tenney Hill, P.O. Box 570, Blue Hill, Maine 04614. Alternatively, you can drop off donations at the Sedgwick Elementary School and they will be forwarded.
There will be a peninsula-wide bottle drive Saturday, June 22. Volunteers will be canvasing the area for bottle donations, and bottles are accepted at Northern Bay Market in Penobscot. To arrange a bottle pickup, call Jeff and Angela Hamilton at 326-4088 or 266-7904.
