Castine hosts summer music series
Waterfront Wednesday brings live music—and the crowds—to the Castine town dock from July 10 - August 21.

In a reprise of last summer, Castine Community and Economic Development is bringing live music to the Castine town dock this summer.
The free Wednesday concert series kicks off on July 10 with Danny and the Blue Tones, led by locals Dan Graziano and Joel Mann. The Juke Rockets perform on July 17, Retro Rockerz on July 24, and on July 31, Atlantic Clarion Steel Drums, an ensemble group of Flash! in the Pans, will perform.
July 31 will also bring classic Concordia yachts to the town dock as part of a Castine Yacht Club symposium before the Castine Classic Regatta sails on August 1.
August 7 brings Mike and Susie Fay (Celtic and folk rock) and jazz from Shades of Blue, led by Julianne Gardner.
On August 14, the Queen City Big Band performs—an 18 piece band from Bangor, who viewed coming to the Castine waterfront as an opportunity, said economic development consultant Sue Walsh. “They gave us an offer we couldn’t refuse.” The series ends with Jump City Jazz on August 21.
Besides the live music, which runs from 5 to 7 p.m., Danny Murphy’s will again fire up its outdoor grill.
Last year’s strong turnout showed that the summer concert series “was a great community event,” said Walsh. “We’re really excited about it.”
Sponsors of the series include Castine Realty, Danny Murphy’s Pub, Saltmeadow Properties, and TradeWinds Market Place.
