Nomination papers for Island towns available Dec. 9

Nomination papers will be available in Deer Isle and Stonington on Monday, December 9.

In Deer Isle, there is one three-year term available for second selectman, currently held by Twyla Weed. The treasurer/tax collector, road commissioner and town clerk are all up for a one-year term. Currently, those positions are held by Lorraine Weed, Paul Gray and Becky Knowlton, respectively.

In Stonington, there will be two three-year selectmen seats available, the seats of Richard Larrabee and George Stevens. On the Stonington Sanitary District, there will be two three-year terms as well; one vacancy and the seat of Ben Pitts.

Nomination papers are due back by January 17 in both towns.
