Blue Hill entrepreneur announces “Ocean to Table” food truck in Portland
Two best friends and young Maine foodies have announced plans to open Fishin’ Ships, a Portland-based food truck that serves up inspired takes on fish n’ chips while paying homage to the local fishing industry, according to a news release. The minds behind the business are Arvid Brown, a Blue Hill native, and best friend Sam Gorelick from Philidelphia.
Compelled by the “farm to table” dining movement in and around Maine, they have decided to take the concept and rework it into “Ocean to Table.” Showcasing their cuisine and their ethos, they aim to not only purchase and sell the freshest food they can find, but to use the truck as a venue to connect with the community, by buying local food and serving it with local pride.
Since the summer, they have been saving money, developing a menu, and conducting research. Recently, they put the finishing touches on their Kickstarter page which has gained instant momentum, raising over a quarter of their total funds in less than 24 hours.
