OHA to host sound designer Tom Myers
Skywalker Sound’s Tom Myers, a sound designer on Disney/Pixar’s newest animated film, Monsters University, will be at the Stonington Opera House Monday, August 12, for a Talk Back about the making of the film after the 6 p.m. screening, Opera House Arts announced in a press release. The movie will run August 9-12.
Myers received a degree in film from Northwestern University and went on to graduate film studies at San Francisco State. In 1987, after years of working in a variety of capacities in the San Francisco film industry, he took a job in the sound division of LucasFilm, which later became Skywalker Sound, where he studied with some of the preeminent sound designers and mixers in the industry, including Ben Burtt and Gary Rydstrom. He did sound design and mix on Mimic, Speed 2, and Quest for Camelot, as well as for the 70mm 3D Disney Animal Kingdom in Florida.
Tickets for the movie are only available at the door beginning at 5:30 the night of the show.
