Fine art gallery in downtown Stonington to feature music
The gWatson Gallery will present the internationally acclaimed French horn player Vincent Chancey in a program of duets with pianist Mike Levine at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 10. The concert is one in the series of Jazz at the gWatson Gallery, the gallery announced in a press release.
Chancey has performed throughout the United States and in Europe, South America and the Far East. He has been a member of the Sun Ra Arkestra, the Mingus Orchestra, the Carla Bley Band, Lester Bowie’s Brass Fantasy, and, most recently Charlie Haden’s Liberation Orchestra and Dave Douglas’ Brass Ecstasy. He has performed with numerous small ensembles and has participated in over 150 recordings on vinyl and CD. He also has performed and recorded with his own quartet.
Pianist Mike Levine is based in Miami and spends part of each summer in Downeast Maine. He performs widely in the southeast and has performed frequently in South America both as a leader and sideman. The gWatson Gallery is located at 68 Main Street in Stonington.
