Dance touring project comes to the Stonington Opera House

“Voyeur,” a national dance touring project by Bridgman/Packer based on the work of Edward Hopper, will come to the Stonington Opera House on August 13-18, according to a press release. The touring project includes a day of community events, one preview presentation, and four live performances.

On Tuesday, August 13, the Opera House will host “Hopper Round Stonington,” participatory events that highlight Stonington architecture’s commonality with Hopper’s aesthetic. These events will include a self-guided treasure hunt, food and beverage, and a demonstration by Bridgman/Packer on how they create their performances.

On Tuesday, August 13, at 7 p.m., there will be a preview of the performance at the Opera House.

The four performances will be held Thursday, August 15-Sunday, August 18 at the Opera House. Based on Hopper’s paintings, “Voyeur” bears witness to moments of personal lives. It incorporates a multi-surfaced set, projections, live cameras, and video projections to evoke imagery of various enclosures in which the performers move.

Tickets for the preview presentation and performance may be reserved online at operahousearts.org, by calling

367-2788, or by visiting the box office at the Opera House. All performances start at 7 p.m.; the community events will be ongoing on August 13.
