GSA to host Homecoming Weekend

George Stevens Academy invites alumni, family and friends to reconnect during GSA’s second annual Homecoming Weekend from Friday, September 28, through Sunday, September 30. The weekend offers both alumni-focused activities and events for all community members, according to a news release from GSA.

An alumni reception on Saturday evening at Barncastle from 5 to 7 p.m. is open to all alumni and family. Alumni can expect to see not only classmates but also a number of current and former faculty and staff members, including current Head of School Paul B. Perkinson, Dean of Students Libby Rosemeier, Math Department Chairman Paul Gilden, former librarian Bonnie Copper and former Headmaster David Hitchings.

The Homecoming slate of activities includes a “Golden Eagles” luncheon on Friday in honor of alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago, JV and varsity soccer games on Friday and Saturday, a tailgate party for all ages on Saturday, a Fine Art Show featuring alumni artwork on Saturday and Sunday, a Golf Scramble at Blue Hill Country Club on Sunday, and the Great Pumpkin 4K road race sponsored by TradeWinds on Sunday.

All community members are invited to an opening reception for the Alumni Fine Art Show on Saturday morning from 8:30 to 10:30 in GSA’s science wing, with breakfast snacks provided by GSA’s Parent Association. David Dillon of Bucklyn Coffee will offer coffee and espresso, and attendees will have the opportunity to view GSA’s new science projects room, a Campaign for Our Future initiative that enables students to carry out short- and long-term science projects and lab experiments.

For more information, to submit alumni artwork, to register or sponsor a hole for the Golf Scramble, or to register for the 4K race:,, or call 374-2800.
