Celebrate 60 years of One Morning in Maine and the Brooksville library
On Sunday, August 5, from 2 to 5 p.m., the public is invited to celebrate 60 years of One Morning in Maine by Robert McCloskey at the South Brooksville Center.
The fundraiser for the Brooksville Free Public Library will feature a tour of Condon’s Garage with its vintage cars and boats; ice cream at Condon’s Store (the old post office); a visit to Dick and Isabel Condon’s house; artwork by Brooksville artists; and the sale of books by Robert McCloskey and Jane McCloskey.
One Morning in Maine was published in 1952 and tells the story of McCloskey’s family and a visit to Brooksville, illustrated by the author. The Brooksville library was incorporated in 1952 as well.
