Visitors of all kinds enjoy a day at Lily Pond

Visitors of all kinds enjoy a day at Lily Pond

At Deer Isle’s Lily Pond a great blue heron searches for a fish. The great blue heron is one of Maine’s largest birds and can usually be found along the coast as it fishes for dinner near low tides. The birds can also be found in marshes, rivers and the shores of ponds. With a wingspan of nearly six feet as an adult, the bird primarily feasts on fish and frogs.
