Packet Sports Spotlight

The George Stevens Academy Eagles track team competed on May 10 at Ellsworth and placed fourth out of the 10 high school teams. Shannon Larkin (left) and Brier-Rose Werner placed second and third in the 100 meter hurdles; Larkin now qualifies for the PVC championships on Friday, May 24. Alice Dillon topped the girls 400-meter dash, with a time of 1:06.87—she’ll go to the state championships on Saturday, June 1. Another first place went to the 4x400 relay team of Dillon, Chloe Laurent de Rummel, Lily Cousins and Lucy Jakub. On the boys side, the 4x400 relay team of Nate Cole, Philip Shaheen, Oliver Broughton and Paul Ferreira placed second, while Devon Coleman placed first in the high jump at 5’ 6”. The boys finished in sixth place overall. The teams’ final meet before the PVCs is at Mount Desert Island on Thursday, May 16.
