SCHOOL UNION 93 Bid Specs for: Blue Hill Consolidated SchoolPlayground Equipment Swing Set, Playground Structure and Lawn Area Groundwork
The Blue Hill School Committee is seeking bids to replace the playground equipment swing set, playground structure, and lawn area groundwork at the Blue Hill Consolidated School.
Remove and properly dispose the existing Swing set and Slide structures including wood retaining walls and playground chips. Excavate and remove (or stockpile) unsuitable soils in the proposed playground set areas. Place and compact approximately 6” to 8” of 3” minus clean drainage gravel to a level approximately 6” above the existing grade of the pavement for the two areas for the proposed new playground sets. Place and compact approximately 2” of 1” minus clean gravelly/sand over the 3” minus base gravel for leveling. Build an earthen berm around the new playground equipment areas with slopes to the lawn area between the two equipment areas that can be easily mowed with the lawn mower. Place 4” of screened loam and hand rake for a smooth surface, then seed and mulch the lawn/play area between the playground equipment areas. Move existing large boulders near the existing swings et to the steep bank near the existing slide. Fill in the holes and cover disturbed areas with loam, seed and mulch. Provide and spread 12” of Certified Playground Wood chips. Please itemize this cost. Install two subsurface drainage trenches (2’W X 2’D with 1-1/2” or 2” clean stone) running approximately parallel to the bank under the playground structures and lawn area between them. The two trenches should be approximately 20’ apart and connected to the existing drainage pipes or catch basins. The total length of the trenches will be approximately 250 LF. Please itemize costs for this piece of the project.
Work is to start as soon as possible after the awarding of the bid and is to be completed preferably by June 30, 2021.
