Penobscot Bay Press is a family-owned news and community information services provider, based in Stonington, Maine, with a second office in Blue Hill, Maine, with a local focus on our communities. We have about 20 full- and part-time employees, publishing three paid weekly newspapers—Island Ad-Vantages, The Weekly Packet, and Castine Patriot, with digital subscriptions available. We publish the annual Bay Community Register, the go-to area guide and phone directory for East Penobscot Bay, a summer Seasonal Guide for visitors to the area, and numerous special sections. Penobscot Bay Press has a growing book division. We are currently broadening our publishing realm.
Immediate full-time, year-round opening based in our Blue Hill office, maintaining current core accounts, with an eagerness to grow into other surrounding territories.
Responsibilities include: growing advertising sales, servicing existing accounts, and developing new accounts and new sales approaches. The successful applicant will have an eagerness to learn, be a self-starter, have professional assertiveness that is driven by excellent interpersonal skills, and creative and intuitive sales ideas.
Must have: good people and professional communication skills, be able to work in a team, consider and develop new sales ideas including online strategies, and be adaptable to technology changes. Proficiency with computers and web tools is essential, as is strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.

FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION MANAGER
Penobscot Bay Press has an immediate part-time, year-round opening for the position of Finance and Administration Manager. The position is based in Stonington, working Monday-Thursday, with seasonal adjustments.
The finance part of the job focuses on bookkeeping duties such as balancing accounts receivable and payable, payroll, issuing checks, payroll taxes, 401k management, processing checks and deposits, paying bills and other general financial management tasks. Key to the position is financial analysis, assisting team leaders with budget management, long and short-term financial planning, managing billing and associated customer service.
The administration part of the job involves managing the front of the Stonington office and supports the weekly newspaper production processes, as well as contributing to management of coming events and classifieds. The ideal candidate must have a strong work ethic, customer relations and bookkeeping experience, attention to detail, be a team player and multi-tasker, and handle the challenges and pressure inherent to a deadline-driven industry. Experience with QuickBooks and the Adobe Creative Suite is highly desirable. Start immediately. Will train.
