Welcome to spring in Maine!

Spring is a time of renewal. Fresh growth occurs after the winter, birds return from far-flung regions, the sun warms and the heart sings. Despite the pitfalls of wild weather, huge temperature swings and the ubiquitous mud, springtime in this area of Maine is joyous. Gardeners eagerly plan this year’s additions, fishermen ready their traps, farmers contemplate potential crops and weekend warriors hammer, saw and design. Spring cleaning is conducted feverishly. Inns and seasonal restaurants prepare for the welcome influx of visitors, and children leave home with their jackets and return bare-armed in the afternoon sun.
